ok city ok news: Catastrophe Update
April 2009

tour flyer 2009

Greetings, friends of ok city ok. We had a nice time in North America and we hope you did, too, if you were there. If you were not, you may read about it here. Tearful thanks to Yours For Now and The Real Heroes. For you, we have lovingly brought back bitching new T-shirts.

The noble Karaterice.com educated the people about our NYC shows, and Rock of Japan politely reported on our disastrous gig there.

Meanwhile, in Toronto, ChartAttack showed why writing about Japanese bands is so darn easy. Soundproof Magazine incoherently reviewed our record, then posted our "SXSW Diary" in 1-2-3-4 installments. It has been reposted in more navigable form here.

The beautiful Heather documented our show at Uchi, which we described as a "sushi bar." It is in fact rated among the top ten sushi restaurants in the US. We are filled with shame.

Thanks to SXSW, ok city ok's Last.fm listenership has leaped from infinitesimal to microscopic.

These also look smashing on men.

"One of last year's NXNE quiet successes, Japan's ok city ok return to the festival with a sophomore album in tow and plans to distribute it in North America. If this collection of distortion-fuelled spiky pop is any indicator, it's a well-laid plan. Texan expat Kay Grace brings along some weird wit, while drummer Y Shiva thrashes the skins and Tom Suzuki supplies guitar that veers from jarring and distorted to woozy and subtle. Soundchecking Soundgarden and as much as they paw Pavement, ok city ok's musical identity crisis is their strength." - Lucie Davies, NOW Magazine (Toronto)

Available for download via iTunes. All you have to do is find the button and click on it.

Or, if you prefer the actual CD itself, it can be purchased through CD Baby for the same ridiculously low price of about 10 bucks.
